"This is the life"
...so the professors tell us. Being art students, we have a studio and live models available, and all we have to do is draw and paint.
A live model is an expensive thing, but ours is covered by tuition. He's really quite good, especially for minimum wage. What occupation can compare to modeling? Today I saw a dude on the corner of Main Street in a banana costume busting out his best dance moves to music only he could hear. This must be at least little less strenuous.
He sits very still for three hours twice a week (he gets breaks.) The whole class laughed out loud when he walked in wearing that, but after a day or so, I really came to like the uniform.
It's been a great two weeks. It has rained a lot but the good thing is that it clears off for a few hours on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for our watercolor class to paint "plein air."
Last week our destination was a junkyard. It was like Christmas for me because I love old cars and tractors.
This week it's the duck ponds at the local fairgrounds.
I don't think any of us realized how difficult it would be to find a picturesque view.
It's been stormy today, but the rain should clear off tomorrow afternoon, as scheduled.

I like his costume. What a cool job! That guy must have some serious focus.
Your modle looks like the type who might be writing song lyrics in his head. I'm sure I couldn't sit very still and stay awake for 3 hours without making up funny stories about the people painting me. But then I'd have to share them with the painters later that that might make our painter/modle relationship feel funny. I miss you!
Yes, he's very focused. I've never seen a model be so serious about the job. On one break, I told him that he was doing a great job. He leaned over and whispered to me regretfully that he was falling asleep for about 20 minutes of it.
They should give him a raise. The model on the other side slept the WHOLE time. Six people now have an oil portrait of a sleeping girl in a bonnet.
Song lyrics! Ha ha! Totally! I miss you too Sarah!
